HATRED AT HARVARD

HATRED AT HARVARD

Were you “surprised” by all of the Jew-hatred, antisemitism, and anti-Israel sentiment displayed by students at Harvard immediately following the attacks by Hamas? Well, you shouldn’t have been. No one should have been surprised.

Less than 24 hours after the barbaric Hamas attacks on Israel, a pro-Palestinian group at Harvard released a now well-known letter placing ALL blame for ANY violence squarely on what they called the “Israeli regime”. The letter was endorsed by at least 34 student groups on campus. There is no telling how many other students share in these hideous and misplaced thoughts. Thankfully, the letter was met with widespread condemnation, although that condemnation was neither widespread enough nor loud enough. The response from the leadership in the administration at Harvard was tepid at best.

The result of this letter was that much of the general public claimed to be shocked. Shocked that these supposedly smart students at America’s preeminent institution of higher education could hold such absurd and hateful feelings. Surely, these students saw the inhumane violence of Hamas that was being reported even on that first day, so how could they immediately blame the victims here and not blame Hamas is the question many asked. The general public was so surprised by this reaction from these students at Harvard, and with 34 groups signing the letter it seemed that the beliefs in the letter were reflective of a large segment of the student population. How could this be? Where did these beliefs come from? The typical American was wondering. The TV newscasters and the reporters were asking the same questions, seemingly surprised and bewildered.

The painful truth is that not one single adult in America or anywhere should have been surprised at all by this hateful and literally psychotic letter! The thoughts and attitudes expressed in the letter and harbored by those behind it have been out in the open at Harvard for years. Many people have been screaming at the top of their lungs about this problem but have been ignored. This letter and the radical beliefs of its authors did not just materialize out of nowhere, and it is shameful that the hatred that led to this letter was ignored for so long despite the perpetrators making no effort for years to hide their hateful and intolerant position. Here is a small history of recent events at Harvard just in the last few years that led us to this point:

  1. On 3/6/23, consulting firm McKinsey canceled their sponsorship of a conference at Harvard because speakers on the list were known and open Jew-haters. Kudos to McKinsey for standing up to Jew-hatred at Harvard! These anti-Jewish conferences should not be able to operate out in the open without people standing up to them and calling them out for what they are. But the bigger question is why isn’t Harvard focused on educating its students rather than hosting Jew-hatred events? (SEE: https://www.mckinsey.com/about-us/media/mckinsey-statement-on-the-arab-conference-at-harvard?fbclid=IwAR0z4c2KWDicf-UIhk2B93rEu293vXN-czzXfUZNHihUz560jg8iOcvFZVA and SEE: https://jewishinsider.com/2023/03/mckinsey-arab-conference-at-harvard-antisemitism-linda-sarsour/)
  2.  In March of 2022, Harvard Law School’s “International Human Rights Clinic” joined with a nefarious NGO whose major personnel were members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist organization. Read that again! Together, Harvard Law and this group, not surprisingly, issued an anti-Israel report filled with the type of lies you would expect from a Jew-hating terror group. Why did Harvard Law School associate with such a group? The clear answer is that people in power at Harvard Law share the same beliefs as the PFLP and its members. How can this happen?! Where was the outrage?! Imagine if Harvard Law teamed with a racist White supremacist group and then together issued an anti-African-American report? The condemnation would be swift, it would be widespread, and it would be decisive, as it should be. So why is it ok for Harvard Law to join with open Jew-haters like the PFLP? 3. On multiple occasions, radical Left-wing students at Harvard have called for conservative Right-wing speakers to be banned from campus. In November 2020, a group called for the prevention of any person who worked in the Trump administration from being involved on campus, further demonstrating their own gross intolerance and desire to use blacklisting as a means of blocking anyone with a view opposing their own view. Regardless of your opinions of Trump, banning anyone and everyone who worked in a presidential administration from a campus is outright lunacy. Aren’t college campuses supposed to be open arenas for new and different ideas? Then, in February 2022, another radical pro-Palestinian group called for the boycott of a visiting professor because he was a retired officer in the IDF. Later, when his lectures began, students were organized to protest and attempt to disrupt the lectures. These same people cry “free speech” and claim that their own voices are blocked even when they cross the line into calls for violence, yet they can’t stand to allow so much as an opposing viewpoint to be present on their campus. Conservative speakers and professors, many who support Israel, are routinely shouted down at Harvard and other schools. Radical Left-wing students disrupt their lectures and meetings and gatherings with impunity, denying their equal rights to be heard. This phenomenon does not happen to any worthwhile extent in the reverse, where conservative Right-wing students protest and disrupt liberal Left-wing Palestinian-supporting speakers on campuses. When the protesters become loud enough, or are destructive or violent or just threatening violence or destruction enough, the administration will cancel the event, rewarding the behavior of the radicals. It encourages the protests to continue and even grow and makes life on campus for anyone who doesn’t support the protesters points of view extremely difficult, even dangerous. Almost always, these protests are focused on anyone supporting Israel, creating an atmosphere where open Jew-hatred on campus is deemed acceptable. 4. In September 2020, Harvard hired failed Palestinian lead negotiator Saeb Erekat to join its faculty. Why? He has openly stated he will not acknowledge Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. He has been a primary reason that the Palestinians rejected multiple peace offers in the past as he led negotiations during several of those attempts. Harvard refutes the claims in the NY Post article about donations they received but they offer no evidence and it is clear that Palestinians and Palestinian groups are making large donations which appear tied to hires such as this. What do you think Mr. Erekat will be saying, unchecked, to the students of Harvard? (SEE: https://nypost.com/2020/09/13/bribing-harvard-to-hire-a-terror-apologist-with-your-tax-dollars/?fbclid=IwAR1iiOQl2WxykEXb9fCPBlWsb0KSePEoWcnxDpNE6W2RI6SOdAmff3EUsVA and SEE: https://www.standwithus.com/post/standwithus-condemns-hiring-of-saeb-erekat-by-harvard-university and SEE: https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2020/9/16/palestinian-negotiator-hks-controversy/)
  5. In December 2020 there was what some might claim to be a minor issue, noted in the article below. Many might say “no big deal, just an oversight”. But that’s not what this is. This sort of “oversight” happens all the time because the default mode at Harvard and other campuses is to give free reign to Palestinian activists and assume they do no wrong. At what point, after how many of these incidents, does a failure to even attempt to review these sorts of postings and listings signify a willingness on the part of Harvard and others to turn a blind eye whenever they can to the lies and misleading tactics of the Palestinian activists? There are countless times that terms like “occupation” and “apartheid” and “genocide” are glibly used when they are untrue, yet they receive no pushback. Countless times that incorrect characterizations of Israel are made with no pushback. It is a case of “if a lie is told often enough” with no pushback it starts to become accepted as true. Pro-Israel individuals are tasked with constantly monitoring everything going on at the campus to report things like what is described in this article. Even if it’s minor, its acceptance has major implications as those who are uninformed accept something like this listing as fact if it is not disputed. Vigilance is mandatory. But just think of what it is like to be a Jew at Harvard and being constantly bombarded with this false messaging! (SEE: https://unitedwithisrael.org/israeli-watchdog-catches-harvard-university-saying-israeli-cities-are-in-occupied-palestine/?fbclid=IwAR2mL4RxdsZdzgtL0KyhmYlPEk79vOofGiB7G10FhPccVEE1m5DMdWdzb8o)
  6. In April 2022, the Harvard student newspaper, Harvard Crimson, endorsed the BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) movement which seeks to destroy Israel through the 3 mechanisms in its name. In the process, the newspaper supported a pro-Palestinian student group that hosts the school’s annual “Israel Apartheid Week” (a sick, hateful, display that appears on campuses across the country!). A faculty letter was issued to object to the endorsement of BDS by the Harvard newspaper, but only garnered about 70 signatures. Where was the rest of the faculty? Do they support the newspaper’s decision? Their silence certainly indicates such. There should have been hundreds of faculty members and administrators signing this letter of objection! The letter even stated the harm this endorsement would do to Jewish students at Harvard, a warning that has rung true in these past few weeks. The last 2 articles posted below in this section, including one of dismay from a Jewish editor of the newspaper, list many of the reasons the BDS movement is a hateful sham. A simple Google search will list many other resources explaining the same. So that leaves one to wonder why the newspaper would take such a position when the explanation that they gave seems to admit they’re not 100% sure why they’re taking the position in the first place. First, one has to ask: has the newspaper taken a similar stance on the countless other conflicts around the world for which there is an actual aggressor and an actual victim? Or just against Israel, huh? Cause Israel is the ONLY country on the planet in the minds of the editors of the Harvard Crimson worthy of being boycotted, divested, and sanctioned?! Then we can move onto what sickness it takes for someone to ignore all of the facts such as Jews being the only indigenous people of the land of Israel and the Palestinians having no known or provable historical attachment to the land they claim. Yet somehow this radical editorial board is willing to just ignore that and so much else. The only explanation for these actions by the newspaper is Jew-hatred, it is the only thing that can explain the insanity of this position. This is who has taken power at Harvard. This is who is controlling the influential student newspaper there. Is it any wonder the students today are acting the way they are after the Hamas attacks when not only is this the leadership, but this current leadership is who was encouraged to gain control of the institution to begin with. 7. Lest the Harvard Crimson steal the spotlight, they were just following in the footsteps of the Harvard Lampoon. In May 2019 they ran a story denigrating Anne Frank! ANNE FRANK! Imagine if any other historical figures were disgraced the way the Harvard Lampoon treated Anne Frank? What would be the outrage if this was Harriet Tubman? Pocahantus? Mother Theresa? Any ethnic or minority female held in historical high regard? The outrage would rightfully be unending! But a Jew? Yeah, they were just kidding around. Apologize and all is well. Imagine what the atmosphere on campus is for Jews if this sort of behavior makes it into print at a major student publication before anyone sees a problem with it, and only after running the story and being called out on it do they realize they need to address the problem? 8. The articles pasted here at the end of this paragraph represent just a small sampling of some of the actions of some of the recent Harvard students, graduates, and faculty. Again, a Google search will reveal many others. A student leader heading up a march openly tying anti-Israel hatred to the Black Lives Matter (BLM) and “defund the police” movements in a classic case of intersectionalism gone mad; a recent Harvard grad threatening to “stab anyone” who even uses the phrase “all lives matter” then going on to attack her employer Deloitte for firing her! Um, why would a respected financial firm like Deloitte risk having an unhinged violence-touting radical like this working for them?!; A Jewish member of the Harvard Club is physically attacked and threatened for questioning the Jew-haters at a pro-Palestinian lecture (being hosted by a former official with the PLO, mind you!). Why is Harvard giving voice to former PLO officials? Why are so many people affiliated with Harvard in the audience and supporting this former PLO official? That doesn’t just happen in a vacuum. What do you think was being said at the lecture if a single person asking a question contrary to the lecture’s stated agenda could elicit such a violent response from the crowd to chase her and her Mom out of the building, with a Harvard professor physically assaulting her! What do you think that professor is saying to his students in his classes all year? And then there is a gross attempt at a cover up, all to defend a lecture given by a former PLO official! And finally, the victim is blamed and expelled?! If you are a Jewish student on campus, this is who you will interact with every day. This is who is in your classrooms, on your quad. These people are espousing their hateful beliefs to others on the campus and influencing them, creating an atmosphere of shared Jew-hatred. 9. This article from July 2022 speaks for itself! Just look at some of the courses offered at Harvard! Can you imagine courses like this focused on any other group? How has this happened? Where was the outrage? Why was everyone silent about this? Why is there still silence? Here’s what the article says: “The Chan School of Public Health hosts courses such as “The Settler Colonial Determinants of Health,” which focuses on demonstrating how Israel’s “settler colonial” society undermines the health of “indigenous people.” Harvard Divinity School’s program of Religion and Public Life has hosted a year-long series of anti-Israel seminars, platforming numerous speakers who advocate for the “decolonization” and even the “de-Judaisation” of Israel. It is hard to imagine that any other national entity would be subject to seminar after seminar informing them that their own national aspirations are uniquely illegitimate.” What affect on the Jewish students at Harvard does anyone think this will have? What message does this send to the other students? If you are a student that already hates Jews and Israel, you are emboldened and encouraged by this since it is the administration officially endorsing this hatred. If you are a student new to the conflict without yet a fully-formed opinion, what kind of influence does this have on you when you see Harvard literally hosting courses on Jew-hatred and legitimizing the hatred? (SEE: https://nypost.com/2022/07/09/harvard-university-actively-promotes-anti-semitism-on-campus/?fbclid=IwAR32fl9YVKLUfGJuDd2rbAoKEP2lGJdXBD70a3Mb56y1rZTMA4fv78rU2Jw)

By now you no doubt see a clear pattern: Jew-hatred has been endorsed and institutionalized on the Harvard campus for years! It is reasonable to think that if the average American citizen who has claimed to be shocked and surprised in recent weeks by what is happening on the campus of Harvard (and many other colleges and universities) had been following and had been aware of these stories and others all along while they were happening that they would not, in fact, be shocked and surprised by recent events. For too long the general public has chosen to ignore these issues. Now we see an awakening. Unfortunately, so much damage has already been done. What is listed above is just a small sampling of what has been going on at Harvard, and just in the last few years. More has been left off than could be included above. And none of this started in just the last few years that are covered in this article, the same has been going on for many years now. The institution itself has been calculatingly taken over by radical Leftists who simply hate Jews and hate Israel. This can’t be denied as the protests on campus make clear. It cannot be ignored any longer. The calls of those who have been screaming about all of this for years were ignored for too long, and now we see how right they were in trying to bring attention to the madness that has taken over Harvard and other schools. None of this is new. None of this just “suddenly appeared” in the wake of the Hamas attacks. All of this was right here out in the open the entire time, for years, being willfully ignored by the general public. Everyone should be angry about this. Everyone should be upset. The only question now is what is going to be done about this? What action is going to be taken to wrest back control of Harvard and other campuses from the radicals who hate Jews, hate America, hate the police, hate capitalism. Some wealthy business owners, particularly in the worlds of finance and law, have announced that they aren’t going to hire grads who espouse these beliefs. That’s a small start. Change must begin now. Campuses across the country must be made safe for Jewish students. Hopefully the general public is now on notice, the world has been informed of what is happening on campus at Harvard and other schools. Claiming to be shocked and surprised is no longer allowed. The question of what is going to be done about this must now be answered.
